A SNEAK PEEK AT THE HOTTEST FOOTBALL CARDS IN THE HOBBY

Topps recently participated in the NFL Rookie Premiere, which takes place annually in Los Angeles, Ca. It’s the NFL Rookies’ official welcoming event where they take part in seminars, fun events, photo sessions and interact with the trading card companies for the first time. And the highlight of this year’s event, as it is every year, was the unveiling of the draft picks’ first official NFL trading card by Topps!
34 NFL Draft Picks including JaMarcus Russell (image attached) and Calvin Johnson starting arriving two to three days before Sunday main event. When the players checked in, they were sent to a special photography room hosted by Topps. There, they posed for head shots, but had no idea what they were in for two days later. That evening…Topps was hard at work at a local printer, composing and printing trading cards for the 34 rookies.
On the day of Topps’ “Action Photography Session”, the company unveiled the players’ first-ever NFL trading card and they went crazy. Immediately, players starting trading their personal copies with each other, autographing them and commenting on each other’s smiles. Topps was just as excited handing them the cards as they were when they received them.
And the 34 NFL Rookies were kind enough to sign cards for fans and collectors too. These copies feature the 3M Hologram Authentication Sticker and can be found in packs of the upcoming 2007 Topps Football (7/9). There is also a Red Ink Version limited to 10 copies each while the Dual and Quads are limited to just 5 copies each. The checklist is as follows:
